September 25, 2016

Scotch College, in conjunction with SAHMRI, is hosting a Student Mental Health Symposium 'The State of Wellbeing' on Monday 26th September, 2016.

The brainchild of Scotch College's Director of Student Wellbeing Mr Shawn Kasbergen, the symposium will involve more than 150 Year 9 students from 15 schools across South Australia.

The day will feature a Keynote presentation by Healthy Minds' own Dr Tom Nehmy plus Dr Huu Kim Le on gaming and mental health, and positive psychology advocate Dr Ilona Boniwell.

With a strong emphasis on student leadership, the day will also include student 'Lightning Presentations' on the topic of 'What works well' for student mental health and wellbeing, and a panel discussion. Students will be encouraged to think critically and creatively about what their schools can do to support student wellbeing, and contribute to South Australia as a 'state of wellbeing'.
