Prince Alfred College to become a Healthy Minds School in 2015!

February 19, 2015

One of Australia's leading private boys' schools, Prince Alfred College is emerging as a national leader in the innovation and delivery of pastoral care. In 2015 they will commence integrating the Healthy Minds Program into their curriculum and also their acclaimed 'Wambana Experience'.

Mr Michael Oomens (Deputy Head of School - Middle) attended the annual conference of the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia (AHISA) in August 2014 where he and Dr Tom Nehmy began discussing research and innovation in pastoral care. In particular, the Healthy Minds Program at Prince Alfred College will enable students to learn the broad psychological skills associated with resilience and wellbeing, but also then to 'activate' their resilience through the college's 5-week Extended Stay Program at the Wambana Campus, Point Turton on South Australia's Yorke Peninsula.

The combination of a rich educational history dating back to 1869 and the cutting edge of wellbeing science makes for an exciting journey ahead!
